Hi, Aldi. How You?

Jaialdi is happening in Boise, and Basque people from all over the world are here, wandering around, spending money, and having a good time. And they know how to have a good time.
Seriously, I have been out every night this week, but I really don't have the stamina to maintain this pace anymore. You are supposed to be working smarter at my age, not harder. However, I'm feeling pretty relaxed right now. I just may have lost my ability to string a coherent thought together, and express it verbally.
So, JAIALDI!!

Boise Brewing Tuesday

So, it's Tuesday, I'm not at work, and it's my birthday. My wife got her hairs cut at Lovely, in the Belgravia, and afterwards we head to Boise Brewing to lounge on the patio, and take part in 2.50 Tuesdays. Every time I go there I enjoy myself. No TV's. No noise. No band. Just great beer. It might be the best place in Boise. A true neighborhood gathering place. Not too much. And not too little either.
Just right.

Backwards and Forwards

Walking by the renovated black and white building is a sign that I am finished with the work day. Always a good sign.

I Should Be Cleaning..

But instead, I'm enjoying an imperial IPA at Libertarian Foods. Between the gashes that bisect downtown.
I can sit on the second level, and gaze at our foothills across a parking lot filled with late model cars.
Bonus: I also have a premium view of the plateau the previous inhabitants of the oasis used to regard as sacred. We, of course, stuck several religious symbols on top, befitting a culture of shallow depth: antenna towers, a parking lot, and the cross.
Jesus is my CEO!

Chariot of the Normals

This is not the only one. There are others. All the pedal pubs, and all the towns. The place where the Whoo Girls and Bro Boys hop aboard and do something together. I am not a joiner, but I do not begrudge others fun. I don't know what they have seen, what they have gone through, what they have endured, to have the opportunity to pedal around Downtown with 14 of their friends and/or workmates and bond, doing something together. I'm not going to denigrate that. Good for you.

Progress Is Made

I'm not the biggest developer booster in the world,  and have often recoiled with horror at the wholesale destruction of beloved older structures allowed to languish for years before being razed in the name of progress. But in this case, I'm ok. I won't miss the decaying warehouse that has been demolished to make room for a planned residential retail structure downtown. I am a big believer in downtowns. And, even though I wonder who is going to live in these apartments. Who can afford a 1/4 mil?
An apartment close to the river? Close to the LIBRARY! , where those people like to go to wile away the days?
I digress. It can't happen here. Can it? Gentrification? In the middle of nowhere?
I never would have predicted that. I had hoped that the Meridian/Suburban project would have siphoned off the Californium contingent into a village they would feel comfortable in. Time will tell.

Prevost Blurs

You have to think the occupants of this tour bus have played in worse venues than our little Crux, but I bet they thought they were never going to again. Actually, I read their bio. They probably don't care. They are just going where their fans are.
Wherever their fans are. And there is a line. A lot of people there, for them, and the openers. So, bully for them. If they are not afraid to work hard, then they should be alright.
Just don't poop on the bus.

Conventioneers

This will be an increasingly common sight in Boise. No, not white businessmen. Well, kind of. Convention business will increase over the next few years. They are increasing the size of the downtown convention center to accommodate more  and more guests. It's not the worst thing. The more people from the outside world that can be imported the better. Idahoans need to be reminded of this.

Our Best

Of course, it's where the people gather. They love it, and who are you to cast aspersions on it? People are passengers on the ship. They just go where it goes.
And the ship docks where the people are. So which came first? Follow the money. It's always the money. The money is the yardstick, rather it's the ruler, because, inflation.
There are other ways to live. There are other ways to be. We have created a beautiful, atrocious world.
God bless.

Hair Mail

Some more of my people have opened a store.
Wear Boise are located near the vacated Anthropologie on Idaho Street. It's good to see people who are willing to take a chance on things. Good luck people!

Missing

Things are happening, not all of them good. Some see an opportunity, while others see loss. Things come, and things go. It will be interesting to see what's next.

100 degree patio

PreFunkBeerBar

100 degree patio
Cools passions
But AC INSIDE
MAKES EVERYTHING FEEL LIKE
MERIDIAN
I want to apologize for
Seeing the rotten core
I know people have the right to live
But do they have any reason
The Holiday is close at hand
The vine you reach out for
Everyone is aware at some level
Yet few make changes
Including me
I know, I'm the worst
Put away your sword
The long knives will be here soon
Before you know it
Before you think
Hot night
100 degrees
